Hmm, so this recipe doesn't call for the pasta to be cooked first and then popped into the oven?

Right! This is a variation of a recipe that called for similar ingredients but diffferent herbs. If I did it again, though, I would cook or at least parboil the shells. I think they would absorb less of the cheese sauce so the dish would be a little creamier.
