Pork and Tomatillo Stew

Comments

OK, I can tell by the recipe that that's too much orange juice to suit my taste as well (and possibly too much for the recipe) ... and waaay too much cilantro. A little bit goes a long way. Not a winner recipe as it's written; I don't blame ya for seriously tweaking.

Strange that the recipe called for so much OJ; I actually would never even pair citrus with pork and tomatillos. Regardless, it still sounds good and I plan to try it using your suggested modifications.
Good read, great dish and honest confession on cilantro. I've grown to like cilantro but I too once hated it.

Try it in small amounts.
I just love tomatillos! They are so good. You don't like cilantro? I am one that loves it, but my dad always says ot tastes like dirt! So to each their own is all I can say. That is WAAAY too much OJ - I would probably even do 1/2 cup.

the pork looks wonderful. i'm dreaming of tender pork that can be pulled apart by a fork! i agree with the need to adapt as well. i also love tomatillos and am surprised (as most others) by the amount of orange juice.

this sure looks good after tonight's scallop marathon.
The pork stew looks really good. I like the ide of using beer and orange juice for the liquid base. You can't go wrong adding tomatillos!

I'm so glad that someone who is a real cook says she doesn't like cilantro. I always feel like such a Philistine when I admit that I really hate cilantro. Now I feel better! Your photos are wonderful.

Gawd, this looks heavenly! And Elly? Cilantro is food of the Gods. Surely you jest. :O ;) (just teasing, cilantro really is one of those things that you either love it or hate it.)

I love Ruth's writing and her books. If you haven't get her "comfort me with apples" I'm sure you'd enjoy it too.

I love tomatillos but unfortunately do not get them here. Now cilantro, I love :)

My mom says cilantro tastes like soap, but I don't think it's genetic since I love it. What a great recipe this is, Elly!
I have a carnitas recipe that uses oranges and salsa verde, so I imagine this has a similar taste. Thanks for the review; looking forward to trying it!
I wish I could do your recipe but can't find tomatillos around here.
